K.G. Romine received his M.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.  His post doctoral training included 4 years of General Surgery residency, and 2 years of Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery residency.

He and his wife Phyllis were married in college. She worked, putting him through college, medical school, and the residencies. By doing so, she earned her "PHT" degree ("Putting Hubby Through").

They and their 3 children then moved to Los Gatos, CA.  After 30 years in private practice as a Cardiac Surgeon in San Jose, he recently retired and they moved to Granite Bay, CA.

During his practice they tried to find an anatomically correct bronze sculpture of the heart to put in his office or home.  Being unable to find one, he decided to sculpt one himself during retirement.  This has led him to begin doing bronze sculptures for medical specialists and hospitals.

Dr. Romine now spends time playing golf, traveling, riding his Harley and sculpting medical bronzes.
